Your nutrition habits are the key to your fitness success!
We do not believe in dieting
Ultimately, dieting does not work long term. Most diets are based on a concept of a short term change to achieve a desired weight. The problem with this is once the goal weight is achieved, most people revert back to their original habits that caused them to gain the weight in the first place. Another problem with most diet plans is they do not include exercise or even worse, for example the HCG diet, the dieter cannot workout due to the extreme calorie reduction. This extreme dieting results in muscle loss and the slowing of the metabolism which is the perfect recipe for post diet weight gain.
We believe in changing habits
For the most part our habits are the reason we look and feel the way we do. Yes, age is a factor and genetics play a role; but more often than not, bad genes are not to blame, but the habits that have been passed on from generation to generation.
Creating new habits takes time and most people do not respond well to dramatic changes. We believe in a gradual approach. Making gradual changes over time makes the most sense and the new habits that are formed are lasting. Our goal is to help people get off the diet roller coaster and empower our clients to live a healthy lifestyle that is practical and manageable.
How we do it
First, we must have a clear understanding of where you are with your current eating habits. A food journal is the best tool to get a true picture of what your daily eating habits looks like. Most people don’t realize what their habits are until they put it in writing.
Once we have at least a weeks worth of journaling, we go over your journal with you. This is not where we try and make you feel bad, instead, we educate and help you understand the changes that need to be made. We don’t judge people; we encourage and help people.
The next step is talking about what we can change first. We usually start with breakfast and over time work through the 3 major meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We will go over snacking options, meal ideas, and healthy alternatives to your favorite foods. It’s not about taking things away that you like, but finding healthier options and making better choices. This step usually takes about 3 months. As we all know, old habits die hard and new ones take time to form.
The final step is continued education and accountability. There is always more to learn and there is always more food ideas and options to explore. Food was meant to be enjoyed, and the enjoyment of life has a lot to do with what we eat. It’s our goal to teach you how to be fit, healthy, and still enjoy food.
Vimtrim Health Challenge
If you ask most people, what is in the food they eat, the answer would be “I’m not sure.” Even those few who read the label are not sure what the ingredients listed are. In our world today our bodies are bombarded with additives, preservatives, and chemicals that have never been in the body before in human history. It’s no wonder cancer rates are higher, diabetes is out of control, and obesity has become an epidemic. People haven’t changed, but our food supply has. It’s time we get educated about what is in our food.
Are you ready for a change? If so, let us help you! The pantry cleaning challenge is exactly that. We challenge you to make a change and clean out the food you no longer want to feed your family. The first thing we do is come to your home and educate you and/or your family on the basics of nutrition. Then we take a walk over to your pantry and that’s where the fun begins. We select random food items and teach you how to read the food label and talk about the ingredients.
Some say eat everything in moderation, we say “not everything,” and here’s why…
There are simply some foods with additives in them you’ll never want to eat again, once you understand what it is and how it affects your body and your family. For example, food coloring’s, such as Blue #1, Blue #2, Yellow #6, and Red #3 are used in many food products. The Center for Science in the Public Interest has reported that all four of the food colorings listed have been found to contain cancer causing properties.
We help you identify what is in the foods you eat and find alternatives that are healthier and conducive to your health and fitness goals.
The Grocery Tour
After we go through your pantry and have taken the time to better educate you and your family about what’s in the food you eat, we then take you to the grocery store.
As an adult you probably have been to the grocery store hundreds of times in your life, and despite the many times you’ve been there, there are many little known truths about how to shop better and healthier. We will teach you how to shop smarter and make better choices that will have a positive impact on your health.
